Tiziana Venesio earned a degree in Biological Sciences, a Ph.D. in Human Oncology from the University of Turin, and a specialization in Genetics from the University of Pavia. She began her research career in oncology at the Oncogenetics Section of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), USA, and at the Oncology Laboratory of the Friedrich Miescher Institute (FMI), Basel, Switzerland.
She was awarded an AIRC fellowship in Pathological Anatomy at St. Giovanni A.S.Hospital in Turin and subsequently served as a consultant for the Candiolo Cancer Institute IRCCS (now INOC) and other research organizations.
Since 2010, Dr. Venesio has been a Senior Biologist at FPO-IRCCS (now INOC), where she has led molecular diagnostic activities for hereditary colorectal cancer and sporadic solid tumors, with a particular focus on the role of oxidative damage in colorectal carcinogenesis. She is currently involved in institutional research studies as a molecular geneticist and serves as the Institute’s lead for the European GenomeMET projects, which aim to standardize genomic analysis in different matrices and in the minimal residual disease.
She has been lecturer of Cancer Genetics at the University of Torino for 18 years and she is currently one of the coordinators of the Molecular Pathology Group in the Regional Oncology Network (Rete Oncologica del Piemonte e della Valle d’Aosta).
Dr. Venesio has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed international publications and has delivered approximately 100 presentations at national and international scientific conferences.
