Dr. Andrea Droghetti graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Perugia and subsequently specialised in Thoracic Surgery at the same university.
He gained extensive clinical experience in Thoracic Surgery at hospitals in Perugia, Terni and Bolzano. From 2021 to 2023, he served as Director of the Complex Thoracic Surgery Unit in Mantua.
Since July 2023, he has been Director of Thoracic Oncology Surgery and Head of the Lung Programme at INOC.
Throughout his career, he has performed more than 8,000 thoracic surgical procedures, including more than 4,000 as first operator, approximately 70% of which were major procedures. Following training and professional stays in Boston and New York in the United States and Guangzhou in China, he developed extensive expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery. In 2006, he was among the first surgeons in Italy to perform video assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) lobectomy for lung cancer.
He is the National Head of Thoracic Surgery within POIS (Italian ERAS® Society) and Founder and National Coordinator of the VATS Group – Italian VATS Lobectomy Group and the ERAS Group.
He is also Principal Investigator and Head of the LUCENT (Lung Cancer Observational Study), an international clinical research project aimed at standardising the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
He is the author of eight books and more than 70 publications indexed in PubMed NCBI and has been an invited speaker at more than 200 national and international conferences.
