Candiolo Cares

Care that puts the person at the center

At INOC— Istituto Nazionale Oncologico Candiolo care goes beyond treatment.
Through the Candiolo Cares project, made possible in part by donations collected by the Allegra Agnelli Foundation for Cancer Research, we offer patients and their caregivers a number of free services designed to improve their physical and emotional well-being throughout their treatment journey.

Each activity is created with the goal of helping people feel better, every day, even beyond illness.

Smoke-free counter

Quitting smoking is one of the most important decisions for anyone facing or who has faced cancer.
The Anti-Smoking Help Desk offers personalized, free programs for patients under the hospital’s care who wish to quit smoking, with the support of specialized doctors and psychologists.

The service offers:

    • Personalized counseling and psychological support;

    • Behavioral support programs and practical tools for managing nicotine addiction;

    • Ongoing care during the cancer treatment pathway;

    • Practical strategies to replace smoking (nicotine gum or patches, etc.);

    • social and motivational support to meet the challenge together with family members and support groups.

Sexual Health Desk

The service, dedicated to patients in the hospital’s care, offers free counseling to deal with changes and difficulties related to sexual life that may arise during or after cancer treatments.

The team consists of clinical sexologists, sex counselors, and specialists from various branches involved (urologists, gynecologists, endocrinologists, psychologists). The goal is to help each person regain confidence, well-being and quality of life.

Mindfulness

The mindfulness program was created to help patients manage emotions and thoughts related to the disease. Run by experienced psychologists, the meetings teach how to live in the present moment with greater awareness, reduce stress, anxiety and worries, and regain inner balance and serenity.

Thus, it is a free pathway open to patients taken care of by the hospital who wish to combine medical treatment with support for psychological and emotional well-being.

Pet Therapy

A Pet Therapy program is in operation at Monviso Hospice that allows patients to spend moments of serenity together with trained dogs and cats, guided by trained caregivers. These interactions help reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness, improve mood, and promote mental and physical well-being.

Listening and psychological support desk for caregivers

A free service dedicated to caregivers of patients at INOC— Istituto Nazionale Oncologico Candiolo designed to provide a safe space where they can be heard, ease their emotional burden, and find new resources to help them cope with the day-to-day challenges of caregiving.

The institute’s psychologists accompany caregivers on a structured journey that combines moments of group sharing and individual meetings, working on anxiety, fatigue, communication and stress management. Relaxation exercises and periodic monitoring are also provided to sustain psychological well-being over time.
